Cardiff Science Festival 14th -21st July 2013

Croeso i Wyl Gwyddoniaeth Caerdydd! Welcome to Cardiff Science Festival!

We have started planning for this year’s event which will be held 14th – 21st July 2013, so if you would like to be kept informed about developments, please sign up to the mailing list or join our Facebook page or engage with us via Twitter @CDFsciencefest.

Thanks to everyone who came along to Cardiff Science Festival last year. There were well over 3,000 of you!

Our showcase for science and technology had over forty events spread across more than a dozen venues across Cardiff. From hands on workshops, live demonstrations, talks, discussion forums, performances, lectures, debates, exhibitions, guided tours and panel discussions, there was something for everybody.

Highlights for 2012 included Comedy events such as “Science Showoff”, a science-themed open mic night or the “Bright Club” where researchers become comedians for one night only. Think of it like a kind of a Thinking Person’s Variety Night! “Nature Fail” is a brand new comedy performance about how technology helps the human race defy Mother Nature’s limits.

Family events include a special screening of the brand new Ice Age film, preceded by a talk from a science expert. Science rapper Jon Chase will be rapping in the science marquee at Mermaid Quay and  Cardiff’s own Dr Mark Lewney will delight teenage audiences with his “Rock Guitar in 11 Dimensions” show.

Adult events include “I’m a Scientist…Get me out of here” will have five scientists on stage, voted off one by one by the audience until a winner is crowned and the whole festival culminates with non-other than a science fiction themed ceilidh!

Cardiff Science Festival is organised by a group of volunteers with the aim of providing as many fun and informative events as possible whilst keeping the costs as low as possible.
