Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is when microorganisms like bacteria, fungi and viruses no longer respond to medicines called antimicrobials that are used to treat infections. AMR is making infections harder to prevent and treat, leading to higher medical costs, serious illness and increasing numbers of deaths each year. According to the World Health Organisation, AMR is one of the top 10 health threats facing humanity.

Frozen Ark Virtual Booth
Visit the Virtual Booth and say Hi to Frankie: https://www.frozenark.org/frozen-ark-virtual-booth-live
Ever questioned how we’re going to rescue animals that are facing extinction? We invite you to find out more about the biodiversity crisis and how the frozen “ARKS” of the 21st Century are working together to help safeguard the DNA, tissues and cells of endangered animals and other wildlife, contributing to their conservation. With extinction comes a great loss of information about the animal’s biology, ecology, and evolutionary history. We need you to help find the animals and successfully store their genetic material in our biobank before it’s too late. Become a scientist and help us save a species today! Do you have what it takes?
Inspired by our physical festival stand, this Virtual Booth aims to engage, educate, and connect with our audiences at home and abroad. Behind our stations you will find games, training videos, podcasts, quizzes, and even a virtual reality experience!
The ARKS of the 21st Century project is funded by the Wellcome Trust ISSF3 Public Engagement Proof-of-Concept Award and by the Arts Council England’s National Lottery Project Grants programme. #ARKS21stCentury

Mae'r Amgueddfa'n falch o gefnogi Gŵyl Wyddoniaeth Caerdydd, sy'n dod â phynciau STEM (Gwyddoniaeth, Technoleg, Peirianneg a Mathemateg) i'r brifddinas a thu hwnt.
Eleni, rydyn ni'n dathlu gwyddoniaeth yr Amgueddfa trwy borth digidol yr ŵyl.
Dewch i gael blas ar y 5 miliwn o wrthrychau hanes natur sydd yng nghasgliadau'r Amgueddfa.
Cewch hefyd ddysgu mwy am waith gwyddonwyr yr Amgueddfa sy'n gofalu am y gwrthrychau hyn ac yn eu hastudio.
Bydd cyfleoedd i fynd tu ôl i'r llenni a deall sut y gallwch chi archwilio byd natur.
Rhowch dro ar rai o'n canllawiau sylwi neu chware bingo byd natur.
Wyddoch chi fod ein harbenigwyr Amgueddfa wastad wrth law i'ch helpu chi i adnabod be welwch chi?

Mae rhai o'r ffilmiau wedi cael eu defnyddio ar gyfer digwyddiadau eraill a rhai yn newydd sbon ar gyfer yr Ŵyl.
Oral Pathology Workshop
Come join Show Me The Science as they explain a little about decalcification and how it’s used in an NHS diagnostic lab, alongside a simple activity which can easily be carried out at home where you can make your own bouncy egg!

Watch the video any time - just click here!
For World Otter Day in May 2021, we hosted an online seminar on our work and ongoing research projects. Dr Frank Hailer hosted the seminar with research findings presented by Dr Liz Chadwick, and PhD students Emily O’Rourke and Sarah Du Plessis. Catch up with our work and watch the seminar here.
Due to the nature of some of our work, this seminar may not be suitable for children. Our child-friendly workshop is also running as part of Cardiff Science Festival!
#MuseumSciCup
Our scientists all reckon that the objects they work on are the best in the Museum.
There’s only one way to settle this – the #MuseumSciCup!
Follow us on Twitter @CardiffCurator in the run-up to and throughout Cardiff Science Festival, and vote for your favourite in each round.
Do shells trump worms, how do seaweeds stack up against flowers, and which are the most exciting rocky wonders?
Help us decide - will the top Museum natural history object be a fossil, mineral, animal or plant?

Mae ein gwyddonwyr ni oll yn credu mai eu gwrthrychau nhw yw'r gorau yn yr Amgueddfa!
Dim ond un ffordd sydd i setlo hyn – #CwpanGwyddoniaethyrAmgueddfa!
Dilynwch ni ar Twitter @CardiffCurator cyn ac yn ystod Gŵyl Wyddoniaeth Caerdydd a phleidleisiwch am eich hoff wrthrych ym mhob rownd.
Ydy cregyn yn curo mwydod, neu wymon yn well na blodau? A pha gerrig yw'r mwya cyffrous?
Helpwch ni i benderfynu os mai ffosil, anifail, mwyn neu blanhigyn fydd y gwrthrych hanes natur mwyaf poblogaidd!
